Hailing from Modena, Enzo Ferrari was born in 1898, embracing a glorious journey toward automotive eminence throughout his professional life. Although his childhood was shaped by a sheer fascination for racing games, the Italian star had also gone through countless adversities.

Before creating his gigantic sporting empire, Ferrari had encountered the wrath of World War I, enduring personal losses alongside career hurdles. While witnessing racing icon Felice Nazzaro’s triumph at the 1908 Circuito di Bologna, his 10-year-old mind was determined for future driving exposure.

Holding on to his racing enthusiasm, Enzo even served for the 3rd Mountain Artillery Regiment during the fatal war, suffering the loss of his older brother, Alfredo Jr. But that was not all to his misery, as the weaponized situation also took the life of his father, Alfredo.

While both his family members passed away from a flu outbreak in 1916, the social conditions were fairly responsible behind these tragedies. After surviving the war, Enzo was also struck down during the 1918 pandemic, while being consequently discharged from his military responsibilities.
