Adventure sports like skydiving have always been a thrilling escape from the rat race of ordinary life. The adrenaline-filled experiences take us to worlds where fascination and fear blend. In this world of adventure and adrenaline, some dream, and then some dare to soar.
This is the story of an 84-year-old woman who dreamed of soaring heights. Her fascination with the sky began at the tender age of five. Little did she know that her childhood dream would set her on endless expeditions through the clouds and she would be inducted to the Hall of Fame for her extraordinary journey.
Kim Knor’s journey from childhood dream to soaring heights

Kim Emmons Knor started weaving her dream after she received a military parachute from World War II, from her uncle as a gift. Knor took her first leap in 1959, at the young age of 20, unknowingly marking the beginning of her legendary journey. She etched her name in 1962, in the records of history becoming one of the six U.S. Women’s Parachute Team members when they bagged gold at the Parachuting Championships in Orange, Mass.

After the sad demise of Knor’s husband, she took a long pause from skydiving for about 37 years. She restarted her journey again in 2003. She narrated her journey starting from 1959 till now and said, “I do what my heart desires, and all jumpers know there are always problems and interruptions. You think things are going well and then you must get it back together again. .”
Last Saturday at the Orange Skies Free Fall Center in Fort Morgan, Knor completed her 587th dive through the clouds after three consecutive jumps. Knor, after completing 587 skydives so far, continues to move forward to fulfill her dream. “When I started jumping, my goal was to get 1,000 jumps.”, said Knor.

According to Knor, “If you stay physically and mentally active, you can jump right back into skydiving.” After a long break from the sport, she sold her house and bought a motorhome to travel across the country.

She often visits her daughters living near the Arkansas River and in Denver. Knor, not only experiences the thrill of skydiving alone but also takes her family to jumping. “I enjoy having my grandkids with me. They have all jumped with me” says Knor.

Knor had recently made her place in the International Sky Diving Museum. Her interviews are a true source of inspiration for all. The world can’t wait for Knor to finish her goal of completing 1000 skydives.
