Driving under the influence is never a good idea. No matter how well you think you can drive when intoxicated, you are putting yourself and others on the road at a massive risk. Driving itself is a complex task and requires the utmost focus to master. So, driving intoxicated is always going to put the driver at a disadvantage, especially with factors like vision, reflexes, decision-making, and more. In one of the latest episodes of driving while intoxicated, we witnessed a collision between a cyclist and an SUV in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
The collision took place on Sunday evening in the area of Lakeshore Road and Townline Road when The driver is now in jail for her actions. Meanwhile, the cyclist is being treated at a local medical facility.
Cyclist struck with tragedy

When the police arrived at the scene, they were met with absolute mayhem. Paramedics rushed to the victim, who was a 40-year-old man and treated him for injuries immediately. Once patched up, he was taken to an out-of-region hospital for further care. As of now, it is unclear whether the victim is gravely injured or not, but details will be expected soon.

According to the first investigation, the police found some evidence. After having a look at recorded footage from CCTV cameras, authorities identified that a 1999 black jeep driving along Lakeshore Road. Footage later shows that this vehicle was the one that collided with the now-injured cyclist. It then shows the car leaving the area while the victim was lying wounded on the phone.

While authorities were still busy on the spot conducting their investigation into the collision, the driver returned on foot and was arrested because officers believed them to be intoxicated.
Boyle Charged for Drunk Driving
Amanda Boyle, who is 50 years old and from St. Catharines, was arrested immediately upon her return to the scene of the accident. Boyle will have to appear in court for her charges. However, as of now, she’s in a safe and has been released on a Form 10 Undertaking. Boyle also received a rude shock after her license was suspended for three months in addition to her charges. The jeep involved in the collision has been impounded.

While we bear no ill will to anyone, Boyle was charged appropriately for her actions. Being intoxicated on the road is not a joke, especially when your amusement comes at the cost of another life.
