Hope was born to a family in Spain. She was an extraordinary mixed-breed dog. But unfortunately, her previous owners disowned her and threw her over a fence. This inhuman act left a permanent mark on her paralyzing her from the middle of her spine to her back limbs. Her vertebrae were completely fractured and her hip bones were dislocated.
Amanda’s Spanish Rescue Dogs Organization adopted her after rescuing the puppy dog. Now she is a member of a loving family. Hope’s life took a remarkable turn after she was equipped with a special cross-country wheelchair which ignited in her a passion for hiking. The wheelchair canine’s newfound zest for adventure made her family decide to embark with her on an extraordinary journey.
Hope’s mother, Kerry Rushton shared how they came to know about Hope’s passion for hiking on Facebook saying, “We were high up on Dartmoor one weekend near Yes Tor with Hope, and we were admiring how easily Hope navigates the terrain and how easy she finds the climb.”
They are soon to conquer the majestic peaks of Mount Snowdon in Wales. The driving factor for this mission is to provide support to the organization, Amanda’s Spanish Rescue Dogs, which once saved the life of Hope.
Wheelchair canine to return her help to the charity that rescued her
Hope’s family decided to try and help the charity after they discovered Hope’s newfound interest in hiking. “This is what got us thinking about climbing a famous mountain that people have heard of and that we may be able to raise some money for the charity that rescued her,” said Ms. Rushton.
The organization has provided all the assistance possible to Hope’s new family to fund her medical treatment. Hope’s new home was to be renovated to make it fit for her stay.

Hope’s family installed wooden flooring removing the carpets to make the home a safer space for her. Artificial grass was used to cover the slabs and stones of the garden so that it became easier for Hope to roam around wearing her wheelchair.
Hope and her family will be going on their expedition on September 9. Hope already had an upgrade in her wheels and is all set for her journey to the highest peak of Wales.
