Touted as a rising star, Cian Uijtdebroeks has always made headlines for his cycling prowess. But for once it was his apparent contract termination that pointed fingers at Bora Hansgrohe for bullying allegations. There have been reports that the youngster felt like an outsider, isolated and targeted while being part of the Vuelta a España.

As reported by Global Cycling Network, the local Dutch newspaper AD suggested that “He was bullied. For example, during the Vuelta, there was also an ‘Anti-Cian’ app group, without himself in it, so they could gossip about him. It’s really too childish. He didn’t feel at home in that team at all.”

Besides, Uujtdebroeks has been called “too fanatical” and the team reportedly fostered an environment of gossip and exclusion. Since any contract termination demands the approval of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the organization is monitoring the situation to take note of the consequences that led to this abrupt decision.

Amidst the allegations, Bora-Hansgrohe has vehemently denied that the team members had been a part of any form of bullying or mistreatment towards the cyclist. But some reports say that Uijtdebroeks is all set to join Jumbo-Visma; on the other hand, Bora-Hansgrohe stands firm on his contractual obligations. As a result of this, the tussle had set the stage for a legal showdown.
