Impatient, close passing moped driver knocked us off our bike today. Fortunately the police (?) were right behind us, so they could scold me for not wearing a helmet and then leave. First time off my bike since 2007.

Glad to hear you’re both ok. Sorry it happened, unfortunately far too common in London and even the police who’s supposed to protect us are victim blaming. Unbelievable

Some of the fans shed light on the unpredictable situations cyclists are often exposed to.
This is why I'm terrified of 2 wheelers and steer well clear, even if it means slowing the traffic behind me. Moped was quick off the mark, and you veered right when you should've gone straight. If your head gets burst on the road it's someone else who lives with the trauma.

A fan even highlighted how within the city, bicycles are not fit.
Bicycles should be illegal in urban environments.

You were moving across a lane in order to turn right, but you don’t seem to have given any indication, either on your approach to the junction or at it, that you would immediately start to turn right, rather than continue ahead as the moped rider did.
