Designed especially for children, the strider bike is often called a ‘balance bike’ as it helps build foundations for the riders who are beginning their riding journey. Devoid of pedals and top tubes, while riding these bikes, the young riders are encouraged to step through, over the down tube, and continue to propel themselves forward, taking support from the ground.

Due to the absence of pedals, the toddlers gradually develop the essential skills of proprioception, balance and acquiring the basic comprehension of the bike riding mechanism. Before graduating to traditional bicycles, strider bikes play an invaluable role in providing a foundational step in their biking journey.

The 2023 Strider Cup in Arkansas endorsed the massive participation of 250 eager riders aged between two to four years. A representative of Strider shared the mission of the event with Cycling Weekly, “Strider Cup is an opportunity for kids to meet other riders that share the same passion for two wheels and foster good sportsmanship.”

Inclusive riding opportunity for young pedalers mounts the experience

The two-wheeled wonder bikes produced only for tots are manufactured by Strider Bikes, which also arranges worldwide riding events. Through the 2023 Strider Cup, they even send a positive message to the community with their commitment to inclusivity.

According to the groups, the vehicles varied between 12-inch bikes for the two-year-olds and either 12-inch or 14-inch bikes without pedals for three to four-year-olds.
