The rhythm of daily life in the heart of Edmonton has been hindered by a disheartening incident. A sudden tragedy unfolded on December 1, Friday, when in the western part of the city a collision took place between a cyclist and a black Lincoln SUV claiming the life of the former at the intersection of 156 Street and 107 Avenue. 

The community along with the investigation authorities are grabbling to find the answer to unaddressed questions. In the meantime, the sudden demise of the cyclist served as a poignant reminder of the fragility of human lives. 

A cycling act turns out to be fatal

The incident unfolded during a critical point in a day between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. considering the impact of the collision led to the death of a 31-year-olf cyclist who bore the brunt of the accident. The fatal outcome of the collision has left the investigators putting together the pieces tracing the consequences of the accident.

As reported by the Edmonton Journal, it was the driver of the black Lincoln SUV who was driving southwards through an alley and entered a parking lot situated on the north-eastern corner of the intersection. It was on the way, the driver struck the cyclist before fleeing from the scene got him involved in a hit-and-run collision.

The cyclist had been left with severe injuries and was immediately transported to the nearest hospital for further medical assistance. However, all medical efforts turned out to be fatal since the cyclist ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Urgent appeal of the Edmonton police

Taking charge of the investigation process, the Edmonton Police Service has pounced into action. However, the lack of any potential evidence has stalled their investigation and as a result of this, they have sought help from the community for any leads to the death of the cyclist. They have urged any individual who has witnessed the collision or has any relevant video footage that might help the authorities to track the consequences. 

Since the driver hastily departed the scene, the EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) is taking full action to track down the assailant. As a reference, the Edmonton Police on their official site has even revealed a picture of the SUV that was involved in the fatal crash. On their website, they have shared the contact details for any witnesses to reach out to them. This appeal for information made by the investigation authorities underscores the collaborative effort needed to bring clarity to the tragic incident.
