This Saturday, more than a thousand dedicated cyclists will embark on a remarkable journey. This will be along the stunning landscapes of the Sacramento River and the captivating California Delta. However, their ride is not just about personal passion; it’s a powerful demonstration of community spirit and generosity.

The 10th Annual Sac Century Challenge is set to kick off from Capitol Mall at 7 a.m. in downtown Sacramento. It is poised to make a difference by raising funds for the Sacramento Children’s Home Crisis Nursery program.

Cyclists to gather for a charity ride

This cycling event offers participants a variety of flat routes to choose from. Ranging from 16 to 100 miles, all designed to showcase the stunning beauty of the Sacramento River. As riders pedal along these scenic paths, they are not only embarking on a personal adventure but also contributing to a greater cause.

The beneficiary of this remarkable event, the Sacramento Children’s Home Crisis Nursery program, plays a vital role in the community. The nursery operates a family-strengthening program that provides a haven for parents in times of crisis. Parents can bring their children, aged 0-5, to receive emergency childcare or overnight care when they need it most.

The 100-mile ride takes cyclists on a journey that touches five Delta islands, extending as far as Isleton. Meanwhile, shorter loops are available for those seeking a less extensive adventure.

For those who haven’t yet registered online, there’s still time to be a part of this charitable event. Online registration remains open until Thursday at 10 p.m. Alternatively, riders can register in person after the online deadline has passed. On Friday, registration will be available between noon and 6 p.m. at 1435 River Park Drive in Sacramento. Additionally, last-minute registrations on the morning of the ride at Capitol Mall and 9th Street. It’s a well-deserved opportunity for riders to unwind, share stories of their journey, and celebrate their contributions to a worthy cause.
