College is one of the best opportunities to hone your gifts and develop new ones along the way. The college experience gives you a chance to break out of your shell and pursue dreams you thought were far beyond your reach. While different people admittedly find success along different paths, it is undeniable that college is one of the most conducive environments to explore yourself and live your truth. This was definitely the case for Jacelyn Reno, who is blazing new paths for herself in the world of cycling.

Despite excelling at BMX racing, Reno has a new goal in sight. The native Texan is now focused on winning a championship with MSU Cycling.

Reno, who is breaking into MSU Cycling, has already won the US Gold Cup in BMX six times. She has already taken MSU cycling by storm, finishing second in the Conference last year. “I like to win every single race I can,” says Reno, who has twice qualified for the USA world championship team. She is also set to race in Portugal this year after qualifying for the 2021 Red Bull pump track world’s qualifier.

While she might be pursuing a mass communications major at MSU Texas, Reno dreams of becoming an extreme sports broadcaster for Red Bull. She recently spoke about her trip to Europe and how it helped her understand her goals better. “I know exactly what I need to execute for the next season with my training and my goals and skills I needed to work on. The athletes are bigger over there. It feels like they’re twice your size,” she said.

She recently won an event in Tulsa, after overcoming a mental hurdle in the form of a previous accident. Considering she deemed the event one of the most challenging US races, her European insights are seemingly paying off.

BMX is in Her Blood

While Reno might seem one of a kind, the BMX bug is something she inherited from her family. In fact, her family runs the BMX Bike Park in Bowie, Texas. Jacelyn claims she was inspired by her sister, Shealen Reno, who is also an accomplished BMX racer. The Reno sisters have accomplished so much together. They have traveled across the country and won matches, displaying the skills they refined in North Texas.
