6,000 Cyclists Set to Participate in a Bike Ride Through Vehicle-Free Streets

Around 6,000 athletes will take part in the second annual Philly Bike Ride. The second annual Philly Bike Ride will take place on the 14th of October. Moreover, the ride is a non-competitive bike ride and also does not have any age criteria. The event is a partnership between the American Bike Ride and Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia.

Last year the inaugural season of the event attracted around 3000 riders. This year, the biggest attraction of the event is the iconic locations. Also, cyclists will not have to worry about any cars on the road this time around.

How much are the tickets worth?

The race has two distances available for the cyclists. They can either choose the full 20-mile course or the shorter 7.6 miles. However, both races will end at the same place, which is the Museum of Arts. Also, the post-race festival includes live music, food trucks, and wellness activities. The race also has different ticket prices for different age groups.

They have priced tickets at $75 for adults and $25 for college students. Also, the candidates between age 8-17 can purchase the tickets at  $37.50. However, the cyclists can also rent a bike and helmet during the race. They can also ride the course for $90 as well. Children between the ages of  3 to 7 should be on a child bike seat along with proper protection gears.

While speaking to the inquirer, the partners shared their own experience:

“The community welcomed this event with open arms last year and we’re excited to bring this celebration back to the streets of Philly,” said Chris Browne, managing director of American Bike Ride, said in an announcement for the event.

“We saw all different types of bicycles, riders, and groups come out to support the inaugural event. We can’t wait for our returning riders and first-time participants to experience this fun, social, and car-free riding experience in October.”

Philly Bike Ride- An initiative to raise funds

Philly bike ride is a fantastic initiative taken up to raise funds. Last year in 2022 the event raised around $15000. The fund helped people improve cycling in the Philadelphia Region. In recent times, there has been an increase in road accidents in these areas. Particularly cyclists have to face a lot of issues. These funds are utilized to ensure the safety of the cyclists.

However, this year, a portion of the funds will support the Bicycle Coalition Youth Cycling Program. Hopefully, the event can raise a sufficient amount of sum this year as well.
