While pivoting her focus toward the ultimate dream of competing in the Olympic games, Silvia Persico’s candid opinions surfaced in the headlines. As she planned to pedal beyond her usual races, the Italian’s passion for pro-riding games soared in high hopes.
With a dedicated aim of representing her country in the Olympic cycling tracks, Persico declared a sudden halt in her Cyclo-Cross schedules. While redirecting her ambitions away from the general classification (GC), the pro athlete wished for her success in the prestigious Grand Tours. In a bright stance of committed prowess, Persico geared up for the upcoming 2024 season.
Cycling professional earns prestigious titles

Determined to deliver her best performance, Persico recently shared her aspirations for the Paris Olympics next year, mentioning its immense significance in her life. While she noted the participation opportunity as an achievement itself, the cycling prodigy emphasized on training for consistent sessions.
With her rigorous preparation and close consultation with coaches of the national team, Silvia’s prospects seemingly knew no bounds. Attaining remarkable accolades in various disciplines, her cycling prowess spanned across the Cyclocross Worlds in Fayetteville, where she proudly clinched the bronze.
Additionally, this audacious triumph was followed by another bronze in the road race, marking Persico’s indelible trail during the Road Worlds in Wollongong 2022. Then, the cycling sensation’s victories extended further, securing the silver medal in the Gravel Worlds in Vento 2023 while solidifying her versatility across all domains.
A hopeful journey in unusual territories
For Persico, the strategic recalibration subsequently involved a deliberate move away from targeting the GC in major tours. While opting instead to skip La Vuelta Femenina and directing her efforts toward stage victories at the Giro d’Italia Women, she expressed her plans vividly.

Hoping for a glorious finish in individual stages, she mentioned marking this renewed change in her cycling trajectory. And that meant much more, demanding Persico’s modified routines, including a new coach in place of her eight-year-long training experience.
Seeking a fresher perspective, Persico recently commenced working with a new coach, Luca Zenti. While separating paths from her previous trainer, Davide Arzeni, the cycling enthusiast shared her words of gratitude, remarking, “Davide coached me since I was first year under-23, and so this is a bit different”, as she added, “He knew me well and knew what I needed.”
