The lively streets of London transpired into a spectacle of urban drama as a pedestrian tool a the center stage. While a cyclist was on his way crossing the pavement, the old woman made a passionate objection that brought to the forefront the unassailable truth of a shared-use path. 

Through the video that has gone viral on Twitter, the fervent disdain for cyclists has been captured. In addition to this, the short clip holds a touch of comedy as it suddenly escalated into irony when the woman was caught standing right below the shared-use path sign. 

Cyclist involved in a foul-mouthed encounter

The Twitter video posted from the account “Cycling via…” with the caption “Angry lady upset at the cyclist for being on the pavement” has gone viral with 81K views. The 36-second clip shows a cyclist enjoying his ride when a high-pitched tirade from the old lady restricts his action. She adamantly insists that cycling belongs on the road and seen saying “I’ll smash you in the face” .  

 

However, little did she realize that she was standing right beneath the shred-use path sign when the cyclist attempted to enlighten the fervent critic. Unfettered by the cyclist’s attempt to acquaint her with the shared nature of the pavement, she persisted in her belief that only roads are designated for two-wheelers.

Fans reacted to the unsavoury incident that took place involving the cyclist. The lack of reasoning and empathy among pedestrians and cyclists have been found in the comment, Oh absolutely. Shouldn’t be on the road, there shouldn’t be cycle lanes and I shouldn’t be on the pavement. Some people are just full of hate and lack reason.” 

The patience of the cyclist has been recommended by the fans, You have the patience of a saint sir.”

The rude behavior from the end of the old lady has been highlighted, “Ppl are so weird. And don’t know the rules but still shout and are rude!!”

Fans have also condemned the stubbornness of the old woman that put the cyclist in trouble, “My hope is that she is too suborn to admit to me she was wrong but maybe she refrains from shouting abuse at others in the future now she knows she is wrong.”

One fan even shared a similar experience, “Happens so often to me when I’m not even cycling. One time I was walking my bike and an Arabic man behind me was cycling slowly..  This woman was so angry at us, and said cycle on the road… It was a one way road, and the footpath led to a cycle lane after the crossing”.
