However, one Youtuber, popularly known as ‘Cycling Mikey’, has lately become the city’s unlikely guardian of road safety. Famous for exposing reckless drivers who flout traffic laws, the 49-year-old cyclist made headlines with a recent feat where he was seen confronting a van driver. 

The video, captured on West Carriage Drive, Westminster, London, painted a grim picture of the troubles posed by distracted driving. It depicted the driver recklessly playing a mobile game while sitting behind the wheel, with the cycling YouTuber seizing his responsibility. As Mikey approached the silver van, the man’s reaction was nothing short of furious. Winding down his window, the accused van owner portrayed an unjustified flow of agony, throwing consistent slurs at the concerned cyclist. With the heated brawl escalating, footage of the scene went viral in no time, garnering countless reactions. 

Cycling youtuber reveals unspoken hazards

With over 100,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, the recent video shared by Mikey van Erp showed the cycling persona questioning the driver’s carelessness. Adding to his despair, the ruthless man’s response was far from expected, as he started screaming abuses at the righteous cyclist. While the driver was seemingly busy playing a game called ‘Mr. Autofire’, he quickly hid the device upon the cycling influencer’s arrival.

And then began a heated spat, with the driver’s threats causing Mikey to question if the accused could even make him stop. Throwing impolite phrases at the cyclist, the alleged van owner was seen screaming, “Get that on camera. Fu** off.” Displeased by the uncalled conduct, the YouTube star reciprocated in sarcasm, asking him the reason behind acting like a four-year-old. However, holding on to his rage, the entitled driver was still indifferent to the concerning situation, while the recording left cycling enthusiasts in shock.

Showcasing his remorseless attitude, the man quickly left the spot while ending the verbal exchange with a sly remark. Subsequently, the recording went viral after Cycling Mikey’s YouTube channel witnessed countless users narrating their personal takes in the comments. Targeting the brutal possibilities of overlooking road safety, one user wrote, “I hope none of his family or friends get hurt by someone doing this with his attitude.” Surprisingly, besides exhibiting genuine concerns, some comments portrayed a different stance. 

One YouTube user stated, “Let’s hope this encounter has changed his mis-behaviour while at the wheel in traffic.” Another individual mocked the accused, claiming, “What a wonderful range of vocabulary”, adding, “His parents must be so proud.” While this video upheld Cycling Mikey’s prodigy, the athletic persona flaunted a staggering count of reporting 1555 drivers who were caught in diverse misdemeanors since 2019. Remarkably, these reports have resulted in 2,161 penalty points, leading to a total of almost $160,000 in fines for violation charges.

However, Cycling Mikey is not content with merely capturing these incidents, as he actively encouraged fellow riders and road users to report such crimes. Embracing his fearless pursuit of street safety, the purpose behind Mikey van Erp’s actions was crystal clear, depicting his wish to make cycling safer for all. With a long-lasting impact on regulatory awareness, the YouTuber continued battling against misdemeanors, gaining support from countless riders.
