Meli Ndlovu started his cycling expedition from Midrand Joburg and after cycling for 33 long hours, he ended his journey at his birthplace Bulawayo, Pumula North in Zimbabwe. His motive behind pedaling for more than 538 miles (865 km) was to inspire the youth and advocate against the usage of drugs. He started the journey along with his teammates on December 18 and on the 20th; they reached Zimbabwe.

The cycling warrior, through his extraordinary journey, wanted to raise awareness about the deep negative impacts drugs can have on the lives of young adults across the globe. He wanted to promote consciousness among the youth of African countries regarding the catastrophic effects of drug abuse.

The journey took a physical toll on Ndlovu and his team. Moreover, the weather conditions turned out to be quite challenging. But they continued to spread their inspiring words of hope within all the communities they came across during their ride. Although the journey turned out to be a challenging one, they got unending support from different groups of cyclists and teammates. Several countries, including America, the UK, Canada, Ireland, Dubai, and Botswana, supported him in his journey.

In a recent conversation with Midrand Reporter, he said, “I believe that having enough power, experience, focus, concentration, love, support, escort photographer, medical aid assistance, and funds can help anyone achieve anything they set their minds to.” He also shared that he would spend a few more days in his birthplace and would return from Zimbabwe to South Africa later. He will not be cycling on his way back to South Africa, rather he will be availing public transport.

He has been passionate about empowering the youth to secure the future of tomorrow by making them take healthy life choices and decisions.
