While her stellar cycling performance disclosed a nuanced layer, Honsinger’s triumph was marked by the loss of a personal connection. Shadowed by grief, she came across the news of her boyfriend’s dad passing away on December 6, bringing her anticipated strategies to a sudden halt.

Recalling the tough times right before clinching her fourth elite US national championship title, Honsinger noted, “I could barely get out and I just felt so exhausted.” Nonetheless, the pro cyclist sought help from her harmonious team, getting back on track and gaining consciousness of what lay ahead in her career.

Effective saddleback prowess seizes countless wins

In a sport where on-track grit reigns supreme, Honsinger’s cycling accomplishments have been nothing short of remarkable. Ending Katie Compton’s 15-year winning streak to claim her maiden elite title in 2019, she emerged as a notable player in velodrome games. Since then, the riding professional has maintained her reign as a premier American cyclocross racer.

Adding to her cycling records, Honsinger also secured consecutive victories in 2021 and 2022, despite minimal training due to unforeseen circumstances. Besides juggling a packed racing schedule and striving for excellence in the sport, she has also embarked on a quest to complete her college degree in recent years.

With her specialization in nutrition and health science, the cycling athlete’s passion for excellence remained similar in both on and off-track journeys. After etching a homecoming drive to her inaugural racing club, Team S&M CX, Honsinger proudly held on to her incredible reputation, with Louisville being a memorable stance.

While taking second in the Pan American Championships, she truly became a racer in a league of her own victories.
