Following the tragic passing of the Australian cyclist Melissa Hoskins, more details have come to light. Hoskins, 32, was found deceased on Saturday around 8 pm after she allegedly got hit by a car. A couple of teenagers on site rushed in to save Melissa Hoskins soon after her crash. They provided the Olympian with first aid before the medical team arrived at the scene.
Soon after the incident, the authorities quickly summoned medical assistance. After being transported to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, doctors tried their best to save Hoskins. Unfortunately, the efforts did not help, and the cyclist passed away, succumbing to her brutal injuries. Such a morose incident took the cycling realm by shock as her teammates had difficulty processing their emotions.

Melissa Hoskins was a renowned cyclist and a 2x Olympian having competed for Team Pursuit. She was also crowned the world champion in 2015 alongside her fellow mates, Amy Cure, Ashlee Ankudinoff, and Annette Edmondson. After learning about the tragic incident, Edmondson could not help but channel her emotions into words. She stated, “I’m so grateful to have known you Mel. You drove me to become a better athlete. We were so competitive on the track and road, but when we came together in the team time trial and team pursuit, we were one.”

Marne Fetchner, the CEO of AusCycling, also paid tribute by addressing Hoskins as one of the exceptional talents in the circuit. She further stated that her presence around the team was highly valued and her teammates were honored to have come in contact with such a kind-hearted person like Hoskins. She also stated that AusCycling will convey their deepest condolences to her family and look to execute a fitting memorial to pay tribute.
Melissa Hoskins’ crash came as a shock for her friends. They stated that Hoskins and her husband moved to their $2.4 million mansion, which they bought in 2019 recently, to plan their life post-retirement. The couple also had plans to launch their exclusive Adelaide Hills Vineyard.

According to a statement released jointly by Jess, Amanda & Peter Hoskins, the family is devastated and struggling to fathom the tragedy. According to the news, the family will have Melissa Hoskins’ memorial service on Friday.
