The German cycling team, Bora-Hansgrohe, is on the verge of being owned by RedBull. As the team has been performing well and has even recorded a superb victory in the first stage of the Santos Tour Down Under, such news is bound to shake things up for the team. According to recent updates from the government of Austria website, RedBull is all set to own 51% shares of the team. Elaborating on the matter, the update also stated that this deal would be finalized this month. In all probability, January 26 would be the date when RedBull will officially own the team.

As the team looks to undergo a transition, sources have indicated that several big name players might be roped in for the betterment of the team as a whole. While the cycling fans are eager to see how the handover of powers pans out, let us take a deep dive into the matters below.

With a change of hands at the top, the owners are expected to take several measures to bolster the team. One of the biggest news is RedBull possibly roping in the Belgian multi-discipline star, Wout Van Aert. Unsurprisingly, Aert has been on the top of his game recently. His addition would prove to be a special one for the team as they look to build on their winning momentum for the rest of the season.

If the news of Aert possibly coming to the team was not enough, another Belgian star, Remco Evenepoel, is also slated to join Bora-Hansgrohe this year. This would be a dream come true for the team as well as for the fans, as the addition of such star powers will prove to be a major boost for the team. Interestingly, Evenepoel will be celebrating his 24th birthday on January 25, a day before the acquisition is set to take place.

However, even if the deals are confirmed, fans might have to wait until 2025 to see the duo. This is because both the athletes will have existing contracts and commitments to cater to. On the flip side, joining Bora-Hansgrohe might be beneficial for both Aert and Evenepoel.

Having a pre-existing sponsorship with RedBull, Aert might find it easier to accept Bora-Hansgrohe as it would help him stay closer to his family. On top of that, this move will also reunite Aert with his former coach Marc Lamberts. On the flip side, Evenepoel would also benefit from the move as Bora uses a similar supplier of specialized bikes like QuickStep. With things looking rosy, only time will tell how Bora-Hansgrohe will fare.
