In the world of two-wheeled adventures and spandex-clad speedsters, Canadian cyclist Michael Woods makes his way to authoring a compelling narrative of his own. He has taken the decision to extend his alliance with Israel-Premier Tech for the next two years until 2025.

Before retiring with the team, Woods hopes to embark on a quest for a Grand Tour stage-win Grand Slam in the year 2024. Woods will attempt to grab the Giro d’Italia victory that would stand as the final chapter in his tale of perseverance and passion for the sport.

Even though Woods failed to deliver a consistent performance at the Tour de France stage victory atop the Puy de Dôme, he has acknowledged that he has been going through the pinnacle of his career.

In an interview with Cycling News, Woods shared a glimpse of his cycling journey stating, “It was a great season for me. Not my best from a consistency perspective, I think 2021 was my best season from start to finish, but the best result of my career was this season, at the Tour de France, and it’s a result I am really proud of.”

Similarly, he wishes to try his luck at Giro d’Italia again next year. The last time he participated in the race was back in 2018 when he missed a chance at winning during the last leg of stage 4 to fellow competitor, Tim Wellens. However, even at the age of 36, his determination adds to his competitive fire. especially after performing well and securing triumph at the Tour de France.

In this journey, Woods expressed his views on joining the club of elite riders who have secured victories in multiple stages in all three Grand Tours. Amidst much speculation and controversy, confirmation came from the rider who reaffirmed his commitment to Israel-Premier Tech. The owner of the cycling team, Sylvan Adams, had played a major role in shaping Woods’ career.

Woods’ professional journey has been subjected to multiple ups and downs, though he refused to surrender. Through this interview, Woods shared the philosophy that he strictly follows in his life, “I think life’s about pushing yourself and exploring and doing new things and trying new things and testing yourself. And if I’m not doing that here, then I want to move on.” His decision to renew his contract showcases his hunger for success confirming the contract as the conclusion of his cycling career.
