In her remarkable journey, Lady Bathurst founded the organization dedicated to providing vital assistance to retired animals mainly dogs and horses. Known as the National Foundation for Retired Service Animals (NFRSA), covers all the expenses for food, medical bills, and equipment supporting the owners of the animals.

However, her charity bike ride is not an easy feat since it exposes Lady Bathurst to extremities of weather and bike crashes during the onset of her journey. In a recent incident, she had a close encounter with a car as it was overtaking a lorry on Scottish roads.

Witnessing disaster from proximity, Lady Bathurst shared her experience with the Scottish Daily Express, “It was literally inches away. I was waving until the bloke was going ‘it’s that way’, and I laughed and just wobbled out. She nearly was a dead countess, not a cycling countess.”

Lady Bathurst’s charity cycling Odyssey

This initiative helped Lady Bathurst to garner the help of the Duchess of York, the renowned TV personality Ben Miller and presenter Dr. Dawn Harper. Through this cycling endeavor, the 58-year-old succeeded in collecting more than £14,500. However, her charity ride was almost on the verge of ending in disaster when Lady Bathurst showed her prowess in closely dodging the car that almost came in front of her while she was mounted on her Porsche e-bike.

The video posted by NFRSA on their Facebook page raised concerns about the importance of caution while overtaking on country roads. The former High Sheriff of Gloucestershire completed her 1,022-mile ride arriving at her destination at John O’Groats where she was received with jubilation and a celebratory welcome from her family and friends marking the culmination of her inspiring and emotional ride.
