In the picturesque town of Berkshires, a beautiful tale unfolded. A group of determined souls embarked on a pedal-powered journey to raise funds for a vital mission. They converged for the “PMC Unpaved” bike-a-thon. Their mission? To fight against the malicious ailment of cancer.?Let’s unveil an inspiring tale of these riders and their quest to transform the Berkshires into a battleground for hope.

Cycling towards a cancer-free future

Recently, hundreds of cyclists went to be a part of the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) Unpaved to raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. It was a gravel ride where cyclists had the opportunity to make a choice. They could choose between two off-road gravel routes in the beautiful terrain of Berkshires. One of the routes was 30 miles, and the other was 50 miles. The gravel ride was scheduled for September 23.

Dana Farber Cancer Institute is located in Boston, Massachusetts founded by Sidney Farber, the father of modern chemotherapy. Their sole mission has been to defeat cancer since the day it was first set up in 1947. They are committed to providing the best treatment possible for adults and children with cancer. As they mark the milestone of successfully serving the community for 75 years, they got the support of the cyclist community to help them to function even better.?

As the wheels turned and the miles passed, these modern-day knights pushed their limits to conquer the evil of cancer.? They wanted to ensure that cancer patients receive the care and support they are in desperate need of. They also tried to be the beacon of hope for their families.

PMC Unpaved’s remarkable fundraising journey

As reported by The PMC community, they were successful in raising $900 million for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This makes them the largest contributor to Dana-Farber.

The PMC Unpaved has also reported, “The fundraising commitment is $1,500 for the first 80% of registrants. Once 80% of spots are full, the fundraising commitment will be $2,000.”

The riders were expected to finish the journey of 30 or 50 miles at scenic Camp Mah-Kee-Nac in Lenox, MA. PMC Unpaved also shared their plan for the journey, “The event kicks off Friday night with check-in and a campfire and wraps up Sunday morning with a sendoff breakfast.”
