A journey from council meetings to mountain peaks

Airdrie Councilwoman Tina Petrow has resolved to hike to fight hunger in Airdrie. Tina would ascend three mountains for 30-35 days. This journey is like a ray of hope for many who have to rely on the Food Banks for assistance. 

Her goal for the hike is not personal achievement. She aims to raise a stupendous $10,000. The total amount raised by Petrow would be used to support the Airdrie Food Bank. 

Petrow has been conducting food drives every year in the Airdrie Food Bank. However, she was not satisfied with her contribution and wanted to do more as the bank did not have all the necessary supplies to assist many. She picked an adventurous way to be of more help to the Food Bank.

Petrow said, “I figured the weather’s still great. Let’s get out and do something challenging. Hopefully, people can support them through me doing this.”

Hiking for a greater cause 

Through her remarkable journey, she brings out what a great impact one person’s determination can have in making the world a better place to dwell in.

Petrow planned to climb up to 60 kilometers to the mountain peaks. She has decided to hike up to three mountains and that would require her to climb 5000 meters of elevation.

Petrow planned to start with climbing Mount Allan and then move to Cascade Mountain. She shared, “…then Cascade Mountain which is a little bit scary, I’m not gonna lie. And then after that is Mount Bourgeau, which is the big one as It’s about 25 kilometres long.”

Petrow will keep on posting pictures and videos on her social media handles to keep fans updated. The food bank will be continuously posting updates regarding the amount of funds they have been gathering to let netizens know about how fast Petrow’s hiking journey is becoming a success.
