According to a recent press release from National Park Service, Cory Ryan Ehrnschwender, a 36-year-old Ohio man, met a terrible fate after attempting a 50-foot dive into the serene waters of Buoy 89 on Lake Powell. Rescuers were unable to locate him, and hope slowly dwindled as the minutes ticked by. The news sent shockwaves through the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, leaving everyone praying for a miracle.

With news spreading, an extensive search operation commenced. Park rangers, officers from the Utah Department of Natural Resources, and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office quickly joined forces to find the missing cliff diver.

But they could only locate the submerged body of Cory. The exact cause of Cory’s death is still unknown and an investigation is going on.

Consequently, the National Park Service has reiterated that diving from rock cliffs, ledges, or man-made structures into the water from a height of 15 feet or more remains strictly prohibited.
