With news spreading, an extensive search operation commenced. Park rangers, officers from the Utah Department of Natural Resources, and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office quickly joined forces to find the missing cliff diver.
The race against time was on, hoping against hope that Cory would be found alive. Further, specialists from the Utah Department of Public Safety Dive Team utilized state-of-the-art sonar equipment. But they could only locate the submerged body of Cory. The exact cause of Cory’s death is still unknown and an investigation is going on.
As the news of Cory’s passing spread, communities in Ohio united in grief and compassion for his family and friends. It is in times like these that we must come together as a society, supporting one another through the darkest moments.
Consequently, the National Park Service has reiterated that diving from rock cliffs, ledges, or man-made structures into the water from a height of 15 feet or more remains strictly prohibited.
