Donning the uniform by day and swapping it with glittery pompoms, Maj. Nathan Curl has been a real gem in the world of incredible multitasking. The US Air Force Major brilliantly balances the demands of his military service, playing the crucial role of a squadron director with the high-spirited world of NFL cheerleading.

In his passion for diverse pursuits, Curl has offered insights into the amalgamation of discipline precision and exuberant dynamism as demanded by the two different professional careers. His narrative tells an extraordinary tale that started during the pandemic.

Journey of cheerleading passion unfolds

As the world got submerged under the isolating currents of the COVID-19 pandemic, in need of solace and social connections beyond his circle of military obligations, Curl resorted to cheerleading. During times of distress, his serendipitous foray into cheerleading with the Baltimore Ravens set his life on a whole new path.

Coupled with inherent physical demands and mental constructs Curl’s debut in cheerleading has been a thoroughly enjoyable one. Sharing his thoughts about his attempt at the sport, he said, “It’s a fantastic challenge and the only limit is your imagination and how hard you are willing to work.”

As both military service and cheerleading roles have demanding landscapes, it has been crucial for Curl to adhere to a delicate equilibrium. However, he managed to orchestrate a harmonious collaboration that relied on open communication while managing his diverse commitments.

Curl makes use of the 24 hours that he gets in a day by adopting a flexible approach, something he has learned from his Airmen squadron. However, it took him quite some time to adjust himself to the world of cheerleading. He grappled with physical strains confronting injuries and meeting the demands of team cohesion adapted himself to the nuances of cheer culture.

As a piece of advice for cheerleading enthusiasts who wish to balance their professional careers, he said, “If it’s something you really want then there’s no time better than the present. Making a decision and moving forward when you have enough information is absolutely better than waiting until you have all the information. Know what you want and go after it.” In this process, Curl succeeded in fostering individual growth and team excellence through resounding commitment.
