School in Texas Turns Eyes in the Sporting World as They Honor Special Needs Students

Homecoming, a cherished tradition for high schoolers worldwide, became something genuinely extraordinary under the watchful eyes of this Texan institution. This school went beyond rallies and tiaras to accept every student.

Along with the school parades and football games, homecoming marks an extraordinary occasion where students look forward to the crowning of the king and queen. However, this time, the Fort Bend County High School’s excitement surrounding the homecoming event escalated slightly by including the students with special needs in the celebration.  

Allowing the students who are differently abled from others to participate in the event with their peers sends a positive message to the community. During the homecoming football game, apart from being spectators, the students were bestowed with the opportunity to outshine themselves by cheerleading for the team.

As reported by Click 2 Houston, the students were given duties of running on the grounds with flags alongside the football players. Being the cynosure of celebration, these students have made their way to the cheerleading team, applauding from the crowd and basking in the cheers.

The spirit of inclusion was not only limited to the football field but also extended to the homecoming court. As a gesture of honoring their courageous spirit, the school authorities, in the crowning ceremony, crowned a Charger King and Queen along with the traditional homecoming king and queen. 

This inclusive act that the Fulshear High School showcased during the homecoming celebration, was an ideal model for other schools to respect every child despite their differences. The decision demonstrated that a positive difference can be made in society with commitment paired with slight creativity.
