SBCC Cheerleading Program makes a comeback after a gap of three years. The program focuses on building the next superstars of cheerleading. However, after a gap, it’s always a tough task to get back into the rhythm. Cheerleading is a completely different sport altogether and a lot of preparation goes into it.
The SBCC Cheerleading Program makes sure that it covers all the bases. It provides a platform and gives proper training to the students. Hopefully, they can carry on with their wonderful work and keep producing quality cheerleaders.
A New Program Is Being Built Slowly but Steadily.

Cheerleading has many aspects which the athlete has to take care of. Starting from physical fitness, teamwork, and faith towards teammates. However, stunts are a key part of cheerleading. It takes lots of effort to pull off such stunts. The entire team is excited to get back together after a gap of three years. Most of the athletes are involved in the practice sessions and are looking to improve every day.
The captain of the team, Acelyn Sutton, shared her experience while speaking to The Channels: “You have to have every single part of your body working to get the person up and then catch them safely,” Captain Acelyn Sutton said.“Yes,” Sutton confirmed. “You have to work as a team. As soon as you get the perfect group, you can feel it. It’s like you feel nothing.”
However, the team captain got tossed up and caught many times during the practice session. Also, while practicing stunts, the team constantly communicates with each other. The member of each group discuss their techniques and offer possible corrections to each other. The coach of the team Julia Hand is called by different groups to answer questions and analyze techniques.

The coach also shared her opinions regarding the practice session: “Wherever your flier goes, you go,” she says. “Tuesday was the first time we did [our] non-dominant [leg],” she shared after the athletes finished the cartwheel performance.
Returning After a Gap of Three Years
The coach acknowledges the difficulty in building a team after a gap of three years. However, the team and the coach are confident of rebuilding a winning team soon. The team will not be participating in any competition this year but is excited about the future prospects.
