The Randolph High School cheerleaders are setting examples for everyone watching. Wearing pink color at football games, they are dedicating their infectious spirit to a cause bigger than themselves and channeling their enthusiasm for the greater good. 

They have taken their commitment to the sport one step further showcasing their solidarity with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Besides raising awareness about the terminal disease by wearing pink, the cheerleading squad has taken an initiative focusing on community support. 

A testament to cheerleaders’ commitment to the community

For the past five years, the Randolph High School cheerleading team has been bringing their infectious spirit to turn the event “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’’ walk into a huge hit. During the latest annual walk, which took place at the Century office Campus in Parsippany on October 22 exhibited a heartfelt display of community support.

The non-competitive walk that takes place on the Century Office campus spanning a distance of 3.5 miles is different from other charitable walks, since apart from motivating walkers at the starting line, the cheerleaders ensure to appreciate the efforts of the participants cheering for them at the finish line.

Christina Dock, the head coach of RAMS Cheerleading expressed her content in an interview with Tap into Randolph, I am so proud of our athletes for showing up and supporting such a meaningful cause.” Along the way, the cheerleaders have garnered the support of survivors, caregivers, and families continuing with the tradition that holds a special place in the heart of the community. 

Charitable tradition supporting noble cause gains recognition

Besides bringing together the community, and fighting for a noble cause, the annual Making Strides walk also has fundraising intentions. Every member of the cheerleading squad sets up a fundraising page and this year the collection amounts to nearly $2500 in support of the charity event.

The cheerleaders enjoy themselves collecting funds and their efforts are appreciated when the participants brighten up their day by sharing their stories with the squad. On behalf of the team, Laila Winbush, the JV Sideline Captain expressed her gratitude, “I love taking part in Making Strides – we all do, it’s an awesome day spent cheering for the walkers.”

In this way, the harmony between the cheerleaders and the participants joining together to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research fosters a sense of togetherness. As a result of the immense impact on the community, the efforts of the cheerleaders have received appreciation far and wide. James A. Barberio, the Mayor of Parsippany recognized their determination for the cause honoring them with photos. They even received the acknowledgement of 2022 School Challenge Winners.

The active participation of the Randolph Rams Cheerleading team has set a high bar being an embodiment of their commitment to the community through their battle against breast cancer. The meaningful tradition has emerged successful in spreading smiles while raising funds for a charitable cause.
