The Londonderry High School in New Hampshire has made it into the headlines for the gripping controversy that revolves around the suspension of the varsity cheerleading team. The suspension imposed more than two weeks ago has left the community intrigued, as they are closely following the investigation pertaining to the allegations raised.

Allegations of a toxic culture

It was Superintendent Daniel Black who brought the matter into focus by stating that the cheer program would remain suspended because of a “toxic and pervasive culture of bullying, harassment, and discrimination.” During a recent school board meeting, the topic resurfaced among the board members. At the end of the discussion, it was informed the external legal counsel had conducted interviews with 20 individuals to find leads for the investigation.

However, the entire community awaits the final verdict report once the 12 pending interviews are over. On the 9th of October, the board has yet to review the finalized report and to decide whether to reinstate the varsity cheerleading squad back to school. In the meantime, one of the parents who refused to reveal their identity said in an interview with WMUR, “We’re extremely disappointed that every child is being punished for an accusation that hasn’t been proven.”

While some applauded the strict administrative decisions while addressing the allegations, contrastingly the board faced heavy criticism for their situation handling expertise, since the suspension led to a collective punishment affecting every member.
