Staging energetic dance routines with a smile, cheerleaders are a bright section of action-packed faceoffs. But sometimes, even these flag bearers of joy need a little boost, right? Evidently, in the vibrant city of Himamaylan, an authority personnel’s empathetic move reflected one such stance, helping the local cheer team during tough times. 

Landing a beam of hope for cheerleading squads from local schools, a competitive event’s inaugural program witnessed the mayor lending his assistance with funds. Depicting a vision to support their preparation for the upcoming Cheering Competition on December 20, each team was set to receive a significant grant of P25,000 (over $450).

Adding to the excitement, the latest MRT show also went fruitful, weaving a swirl of power-packed entertainment. Lightening the stage with passionate moves, the University-Himamaylan Campus gymnasium recently hosted a grand cheerleading event.

Orchestrated by the Gaynon Cheer Dance Squad, this venture adeptly imparted basic lifts and dance elements, taking off on November 25. With its climax show on November 26, the performances captivated several locals, portraying overall showmanship to the budding cheer talents. 

Significantly, the limelight was also in the presence of Mayor Tongson, who expressed his gratitude to the school leaders, coordinators, and every student. Embracing the invitation, he reaffirmed the city’s commitment to fostering local cheerleading stars through innovative programs. 

Heartwarming gestures win hearts from miles apart

While sparking interest and enthusiasm among the Himamaylanon youth, Tongson also mentioned awaiting the Cheering Competition. Hoping for broader participation in the next MRT Cheer Camp, his thoughts were partnered with Councilor Janet Villafranca.

While 14 cheerleading teams from this event were set to gain from Mayor Tongson’s donations, they included public and private schools. Garnering appreciation from the community, this heartfelt stance of support ignited the true charm of cheering. On the contrary, another incident involving cheer members had a different narrative.

Days ago, the Rockridge and Rock Island High School cheerleading squads were seen forging an extraordinary bond, one that went beyond their rivalry. Reportedly, the Lady Rockets surprised senior Rock Island cheerleader Cecilia during a practice session, gifting her $1,000 for a new wheelchair.
