In the groups of spirited high school cheerleaders, a lot happens beyond sideline routines. Recently, the Woodland High School (TWHS) has embarked on a heartwarming mission where they ventured beyond their cheerleading routines. These young ambassadors took part in a charitable program where they donated handmade blankets to parents whose children were admitted at Woodlands Medical Center.

TWHS wasn’t the only team to be taking up charitable initiatives. During the fall earlier this year, the Misericordia University Cheerleading team switched their cheerleading roles to take part in serving the community. The squad has raised funds for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital for Childhood Cancer.

It has been a decade since the TWHS cheerleading squad has dedicated itself to the cause of making a positive difference in society. They have channeled their creativity and time to craft handmade blankets that have been a cherished tradition in partnership with Memorial Hermann for 9 years.

As reported by, Woodlands Online, under the leadership of Donna Roberts, their coach, the TWHS cheerleading team paid a visit to meet Richard Rivas, MD Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. Post-meetup, they handed over the tokens of love, offering comfort to families in the NICU during difficult times as the whole world basked in the holiday spirit.

This legacy of compassion offered the cheerleaders an opportunity to witness the impact of their charitable move. Being able to deliver the blankets to NICU parents, they have become an integral part of their resilient journey as the premature babies battled against all odds in their isolettes.
