The incident unfolded last Friday night at a local pub. Gallen, who currently serves as a commentator for the Nine Network, was caught on camera grappling with another patron. The video, obtained by The Daily Mail Australia, showed Gallen with a bloodied face. In the video, he was seen wrestling to the ground. Gallen’s fellow Nine Network employee, Mark Levy, was also present at the scene.  He can be heard in the video trying to de-escalate the situation, saying, “Stop it. Enough, enough. Gal, stop.”

Gallen, known for his fierce presence on the rugby field, maintained that he did not throw a punch during the altercation. The video clip, being short, does not provide the full context of the incident. “I didn’t throw a punch,” Gallen asserted. “I’m more disappointed for putting myself in this situation.”

The shocking incident drew attention as Gallen is a well-known figure in the world of rugby league. The former captain has also made a name for himself in the boxing community. Notably, he previously fought for the Australian heavyweight title. In fact, he allegedly received lucrative offers to fight other cross-code stars like Sonny Bill Williams. Despite this, Gallen recently retired from the boxing ring.

From Glory to Controversy: Gallen’s Journey

Paul Gallen’s sporting journey has been marked by highs and lows. He was a stalwart in the Cronulla Sharks team, leading them to their first-ever NRL premiership in 2016. His passion, aggression, and never-say-die attitude made him a beloved figure in the rugby league community. Gallen also represented New South Wales in State of Origin matches, becoming an iconic captain who helped break Queensland’s dominance.

Gallen’s transition to the world of boxing was equally noteworthy. He faced off against formidable opponents and even captured the Australian heavyweight title. His exploits in the boxing ring added to his reputation as a versatile and tough athlete. However, Gallen’s decision to decline multi-million dollar offers to fight fellow cross-code star Sonny Bill Williams marked the end of his boxing career.

The incident at the South Coast pub is a departure from the image of the determined and disciplined athlete that Gallen has projected over the years. While the details surrounding the brawl remain unclear, it serves as a reminder that even sports legends can find themselves in unexpected and regrettable situations.
