The world of college football has been left with a void that will never be substituted. The brilliant and enigmatic coach, Nicknamed “the General”, Bob Knight has passed away at the age of 83. The towering figure in the sport led the Indiana basketball team to grab three NCAA titles. From his unmatched coaching brilliance to his scowling presence, Knight’s journey as a basketball coach has been a rollercoaster of triumphs and controversies.

Even though the cause of the death remains unrevealed, the legendary coach had been suffering from dementia and had been admitted to hospital for pneumonia quite a number of times in the past. Based on the reports of AP News, Knight had an intimidating presence having a stature of 6 foot 5 inches, and was hard-to-please since he abided by strict principles. Owing to his master tactics, he has extended his mentorship to some of the finest coaches in America.

Indiana Basketball has taken to the Twitter handle to post the tragic news with the caption “Indiana Basketball: Coach Bob Knight-In Memoriam”. Posted on November 2, the post has received 477.9K views. Fans have shared their reaction to the post outpouring their tribute.

Besides his victories, his fiery temperament has also called in controversies including incidents when he threw a chair across the court, hit a police officer in Puerto Rico, and wrapped his hands around the neck of a player. However, his commitment to the game and the players has been unwavering and will leave a mark in the hearts of his fans.

One of the fans wrote on the post sharing his personal experience reminiscing the times when he was part of basketball camps under the supervision of Knight, “RIP Coach. As a kid, you made me love the game of basketball. I’ll never forget times at your basketball camps.”

Another fan highlighted his eccentric personality while at the same time honoring his coaching greatness, “Coach you were krazy but a great Coach! Rip.”
