Indianapolis Airport Turning Into an All-Star Basketball Arena, Leaves Instagram Users in Splits

The NBA All-Star fever is already catching on with the fans. Although the All-Star fixture for this year is still a month to go, the craze and anticipation seem to be shooting through the roof and the Indy Airport is an apt example. In order to attract fans, the airport has set up a full-length basketball court inside its airport premises. As surprising as this news might sound, it is very much true. According to the reports, the airport has come up with this unique plan to welcome the supporters of the game. With the airport authorities ready to give the fans the shock of their life, let us dive deep into the story and unveil all the details about it. 

NBA fever catches on inside the airport

An Instagram account ‘House of Highlights,’ uploaded a carousel of images and videos recently. In the images, we see the inside of the Indianapolis Airport and a basketball court within! The court was so perfectly installed that people could definitely mistake it to be the original one from the NBA. In fact, the entire design of the court emulates that of the one that will be used for the coveted All-Star game on February 18. The newest addition to the Indy Airport is said to be installed around the dine-in area of the airport. 

Further inspection revealed a large banner that displayed the words “Indy 2024” and “Feb 16-18” in yellow and white respectively, on the iconic blue-colored base. The celebrations will last for an entire weekend, commencing on Feb 16. Interestingly, this would be the second occasion when Indianapolis will be playing the host to the NBA All-Star game. The first time they hosted this prestigious event was way back in 1985. While it was the Hoosier Dome in 1985, this time the Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena will be responsible for hosting the auspicious occasion. 

The All-Star game will also determine the winner of this year’s All-Star voting. While LeBron James tops the charts from the West, Giannis Antetokounmpo leads from the East. Thus, with so much at stake, the Indy Airport getting a makeover is very much justified. 

Such a viral post was bound to catch the attention of the fans, and surely it did.

The Instagram post captioned, “How many points you dropping at the airport?🤣”, received more than 123k likes at the time of reporting this epic news. The comment section of the post was flooded with more than 730 reactions.

One fan stressed the fact that what if somebody got injured while attempting to play on the court before their flight, “breaking someone’s ankles and then flying home is crazy.” This user was concerned about sweating and foul body odour, “smelling crazy on the flight 😷”

Another fan thought people might miss their flights while being lost playing the game, “I bet people be they missing flights hooping 😂.” This user too, echoed similar concerns, “A lot of flights are gonna be missed”
