The victim, DaiVion Henderson, was a basketball fan and stepped out in the evenings to play a few games with his friends. According to the reports, the reason for the scuffle was a loss in one of the friendly pickup game. Such was the anger and displeasure of the other group of kids that a fight broke out and they stabbed 14-year-old DaiVion in his neck.
His mother posted a heartfelt and grieving message for her son on a GoFundMe post: “My son was stabbed to death over a basketball game.”
“It hurts me to have to bury my child.”
Authorities received an emergency call at 9:15pm, and medics arrived on the scene immediately. The incident has left the entire family in a state of pure despair and pain.

The doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead on his arrival, ending all but any hopes. Unable to comprehend how she lost her son and the tragic manner of his death, the family will surely be eager to witness a judgement being passed and see the wrongdoers punished.
As per the police reports and press releases, they have charged the 13-year-old boy responsible for the stabbing with second-degree murder. The scheduled hearing for the particular charge took place yesterday, with proceedings yet to be confirmed. The facility owner, Mike Cooksey, spoke to the media and expressed shock at the violent crime.
He mentioned that his daughter and friends have used the facility frequently and never faced problems like these. “If I woulda knew a basketball rim out here would have got a kid stabbed, it wouldn’t be out here,” he said to the media.
