Disrupting the spirited essence of varsity baseball games, the Kingston High community was recently dealt a tragic blow. Reportedly, after a brutal car crash entangled two star players of the team, it all went south as both teens suffered fatal consequences. Sparking turmoil in mere moments, the accident provoked grievances like never before. 

Regrettably, the baseball-playing duo came across a deadly vehicular collision on January 8, recorded along the lanes of Shandaken, New York. While both athletes succumbed to their injuries, the severity of this incident shook the entire locality, mourning the rising teens’ untimely loss. As the varsity staff remembered these dedicated souls taken away too soon, they were relieved when another player was noted in a much safer state. 

Baseball players face unprecedented mishap

Unleashing havoc on the baseball team, 16-year-old pitcher Dillon Gokey became a victim of this fateful crash, breathing his last alongside 17-year-old Jack Noble. As a talented player with merits spanning football and lacrosse, his dreadful condition left the team in shock, casting a shadow on Monday morning. 

Following the devastating news, baseball coaches and peers rallied to commemorate these lasting legacies, honoring both players for their sporting personas. Significantly, trainer Rob Parisian vividly recalled Gokey’s rise from the junior varsity ranks, highlighting the young pitcher’s on-court determination and sheer tenacity.

Reminiscing about Noble’s exceptional baseball playing ethics, lacrosse coach Casey Westermann also shared his thoughts, describing him as an example to follow. Explaining the current scenario, Parisian hinted at the students’ distress, quoting, “It hit the kids hard”, as he recalled Gokey’s prowess. “He was more confident than ever”, the heartbroken trainer mentioned.

Besides claiming the lives of two rising baseball players, the unfortunate crash also posed severe impacts on a lacrosse team athlete. Joseph Sepesi, a junior player on the varsity crew, was swiftly flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla after reports of the collision triggered urgent medical attention.

Struggling with physical setbacks but facing no life-altering outcomes, Sepesi was revived, posing a stark yet thankful contrast to the baseball players’ fate. While the Kingston High campus saw an outpouring of grief and solidarity, the coaches paid their tributes to the lost souls, acknowledging their exceptional characters.

Besides emphasizing the resilient sportsmanship of his baseball team, Parisian also recalled gaining sympathy from the Kingston lacrosse crew. In the wake of this heart-wrenching loss, the varsity community remembered both players, navigating through the grief and joining hands in their honor.
