Star-turned referee sparks spectacle in high school game

A former West Virginia basketball player turned high school referee, Brandon Knapper was suddenly found at the center of an altercation with another authoritative figure. During a high school basketball game being held in Santiago High School in Corona, California Knapper was engaged in a heated verbal altercation with the coach of the Oaks Hills High School, Rob Alexander.
Initially, a verbal confrontation unfolded between Knapper and Alexander, but the heated conversation suddenly escalated to a full-fledged brawl. Knapper delivered a punch at Alexander, leading to an unexpected spectacle at the court.
According to the reports, the police had to interfere in the situation. Alexander had to be taken to the hospital. Alexander requested prosecution against Knapper, and he was booked into the Riverside County Jail on Sunday. His bail was set at $25,000. Knapper is due to court on November 3.

Knapper played for West Virginia from 2018 to 2020 for two consecutive seasons. Besides being a part of the West Virginia team he played about 60 matches for the Mountaineers. Spending his final year at Cal State San Bernardino he joined Santiago High School as a high school coach.
