Accidents and injuries in the MotoGP are a tough pill to swallow. By that, I mean, you could have a very hard time swallowing pills after a MotoGP accident or injury. Let’s just say these injuries cannot be taken lightly. Top drivers have sat out for weeks, months, and sometimes years all thanks to one grave injury. Still, few people know the seriousness of an injury like Marco Bezzecchi, who fractured his right collarbone while training. However, far be it from the Italian to stay down after a grave knock.
In fact, the racer is already back in the fold just five days after undergoing surgery for the aforementioned knock. Not only is his shoulder back in place, but Bez actually scored a prodigious third place in the table. With this finish, he successfully surpassed the times of his two biggest title rivals.
Record after a Crash

Bez, VR46 Racing rider, was in his element on the day despite any niggling worries from the surgery. “It hasn’t been an easy week, but fortunately this morning I didn’t feel too bad on the bike,” he said after his finish. The rider starts the Indonesian GP 54 and 51 points behind leader Pecco Bagnaia and his main pursuer, Jorge Martín, respectively. Having arrived late at the Mandalika circuit, Bez set the fifth-best time in the first session.

However, before this, he crashed into the gravel, sending chills down the spines of his teammates. After his crash, Bez underwent two check-ups to confirm his discharge, with doctors following him around with a magnifying glass. Bez’s medical expert, Dr. Ángel Charte, explained that the rider’s shoulder is still inflamed. However, just ten minutes before the end of the session, Bez the circuit record. The record was later lowered for a second time on the same day by the Aprilias of Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales.

Meanwhile, Matteo Flamigni, Bez’s technical chief, was astounded that the Italian rider was still in a position to race. “He thought it would be impossible to see him compete here. I’m amazed,” he said. He added, “The current MotoGP is much more physical.”
Bezzecchi Perseveres Through Pain
While there are still those who doubt Bez’s decisions, rather justifiably, the Italian looks like he is here to ride. In fact, sources suggest that Bez had the hardest time convincing his mother that he was capable of competing despite his recent crash. Bez also claimed that most people were not satisfied with his decision to ride. He himself considered skipping the Indonesian GP and heading to Australia for the next race.

However, despite his heroics in Mandalika, Bez’s future in the rankings still remains to be seen. What also remains to be seen is whether the demanding nature of the 27-lap race on Sunday takes its toll on the protagonist of the last miraculous recovery in MotoGP.
