In a collaborative move accompanied by several other Derry residents, Monica McGuigan joined forces with the organization called Skydive Ireland. She took a daring plunge on October 14, Saturday from 15,000 feet in the name of charity. In a storage twist, the adventure was hindered by several uncertainties, the primary being the unpredictable weather conditions.

In the beginning, there prevailed confusion about the execution of the skydive because of windy weather conditions. But soon the weather cleared out and although McGuigan took part in the dive, it also had an impact on her physical health. In an interview with Derrynow, McGuigan shared her experience, “I got on the plane and my whole insides were churning. I thought, ‘What in under God am I doing?’’”

Overcoming all the impediments barred their way, the joint move of the residents resulted in a significant contribution. As an outcome of this adventure, they made a considerable donation of £4,582 to Children in Crossfire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children in Ethiopia and Tanzania.

However, it was still a strange day for McGuigan.
