In a bid to champion a noble cause, Ben Hollington Wyatt, a dedicated fundraiser from Cornwall, is embarking on an awe-inspiring journey across challenging mountain passes. Yet, despite his admirable mission to raise funds for St Petrocs, local Cornish businesses have been notably absent in their support, casting a shadow over his monumental effort.
As Ben Hollington Wyatt gears up for an ambitious 280 km ‘Hike for Homeless’ trek, disappointment looms. This is largely due to the stark lack of support from Cornish businesses. Wyatt is determined to trek across 11 demanding mountain passes. These mountain passes span from the Italian border beneath Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn in Switzerland. This resonates with his unwavering commitment to aiding the homeless through his fundraiser for St Petrocs.

“I sent an explanatory email with photos and videos to probably 100 companies from small companies to big ones. I didn’t get a single response, not one. So that was a bit disappointing,” Wyatt expressed, his frustration clear in his words.
Previously, Wyatt had rallied support for a similar cause, successfully raising nearly £5,000 with sponsorship from Rab clothing, who not only provided gear but also donated jackets to St Petrocs. However, his current endeavor, set against the backdrop of formidable natural challenges and determined spirit, has not garnered the response he anticipated.

The path to raising funds has been intertwined with Wyatt’s personal journey of preparation. Training on Bodmin Moor and conquering Cornwall’s highest parts in a 30 km trek underscored his resolve. “This trek is going to take 12 days and cover almost 300km. In a way I’m terrified and the weather forecast is appalling,” Wyatt acknowledged. He was particularly emphasizing the immense physical and mental challenges that await him.
Negotiating glaciers and enduring unpredictable weather, Wyatt’s determination remains steadfast, but the absence of business support remains a noticeable void. Nevertheless, he remains undeterred, affirming, “I won’t give up and am looking forward to the challenge.”
