Isn’t it incredible when you’re world-class at two separate sports? Being great at one in itself is a gift from God, paired with hard work and perseverance, of course. But being great at two is an absolute luxury and a blessing. Very few must know what it feels like much better than Jordan Faison. The freshman walk-on wide receiver has been on absolute fire and is an incredible addition to the Notre Dame Football team.

Faison’s football scholarship is even more impressive when you consider that he had not come to Notre Dame to play football. In fact, Faison was in Cleveland due to a partial scholarship based on the prowess of his lacrosse ability.

Faison is a 5 foot 10, 182-pound man, with a blistering pace and an eye for positioning. Based solely on the eye test while watching him play last week, it is likely that many wonder why the freshman did not just enter on a football scholarship. Offensive coordinator Gerad Parker claimed that, while hunting for an offensive receiver, the team did not emphasize any particular physical traits. All they focused on was players who could separate and run.

Head Coach Marcus Freeman was impressed by Faison’s gameplay almost instantly. “(Faison) has shown that he has a lot of ability,” he said. Faison had committed himself to Notre Dame since October 2021. However, he was selected for his lacrosse ability.

While a senior in high school, many colleges came sniffing, but only Iowa offered him the scholarship. Since then, the Hawkeyes have hosted him for an official visit.

However, right after the visit, Faison decided to sign for Notre Dame, who recognized his ability in both sports. “I love both sports equally,” Faison said. “So if you could, a flax player or something. Just change the words or something.”

He also has rushed 143 times for 1,661 yards and nine touchdowns. Besides this, he threw for 280 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions on 21-of-46 passing; all very impressive for a man his age.

Despite the team’s recent loss against Louisville, Faison caught two passes, ran 48 yards and converted 1 touchdown. Although Faison only arrived in the summer to start training, he has already turned quite a few heads.

On top of this, Jordan has a great attitude, giving it his 100% on every occasion. He claims he doesn’t care if he even gets on the field as long as he is giving it his all.
