51 Year Old Irish Horse Trainer Arrested After Assaulting Partner with Wooden Plank

In an unfortunate turn of incidents, authorities apprehended a 51-year-old Irish horse trainer on suspicion of domestic assault. Harvey Smith, a prominent horse trainer and former showjumper from County Tyrone, is now facing a long legal battle for his alleged actions.

Residing on Corkill Road, Seskinore, he recently appeared in court facing a slew of charges. All of this was after he allegedly assaulted his partner with a wooden plank sometime last month.

Serious Charges Emerge

Clearly, the charges against Smith are nothing short of serious. He is accused of three separate counts of assaulting a woman. In addition to the assault charges, Smith is also facing accusations of damaging the rear bumper of a woman’s car. At this juncture, it is not clear if the assault victim and the car owner are the same woman.

However, it does not end here. Other claims have since emerged that Smith subjected his dog to a similar suffering as well.

The details surrounding the alleged incident remained shrouded in mystery during the brief court appearance. Harvey Smith, attired in a light grey suit, spoke only to confirm his identity. He also talked about his comprehension of the charges leveled against him. The victim’s identity is also not disclosed at this point.

Court’s Decision and Pending Legal Aid

District Judge Bernie Kelly presided over the proceedings and opted to remand Smith on continuing bail, scheduling his return to court for the next month. Meanwhile, the defense submitted an application for Legal Aid on Smith’s behalf. However, the judge was unable to process the request at that moment, citing the need for comprehensive verification of Smith’s financial circumstances. Despite this delay, Judge Kelly agreed to revisit the matter during the upcoming court appearance.
