Luke Rowe, hailing from Wales and riding for the Ineos Grenadiers, had just completed his journey in the annual Tour of Britain. The event concluded on September 10, following a week of navigating the picturesque countryside. The grand finale took place on Caerphilly Mountain, near Rowe’s hometown of Cardiff. As he approached the finish line, a surprising encounter awaited him–a spectator handed him a Corona bottle.

Surprisingly, it was none other than Luke’s brother, who had donned a wig and a dress for this unique stunt. Together, they clinked their beer bottles, with Luke’s brother aptly adorned with the word “Cheers” on his outfit. In a delightful and spontaneous moment, they began chugging lager while maintaining their respective modes of movement–Rowe on his bicycle, and his brother keeping pace on foot beside him.

Reflecting on the viral clip, Rowe expressed the significance of this heartwarming incident: “Imagine this: your best mate is your brother. I support him, he supports me,” he mused. “We meet on the last climb of the race and sink a beer together. Maybe it’s not the perfect pro image but, well, we have to cherish and revel in these moments.”

Spanish cyclist Íñigo Elosegui found this family-centric affair particularly touching. He took to social media to share his sentiments, saying, “Man, this is what makes cycling special, and these are the kind of moments that will live forever in your memories. And that’s what matters!” A lot of fans also made their voices heard after this beer sip.
