“Totally Justified”: Passionate Cyclist Defends Bike Lane in Viral Video Clash With Driver

Cyclists all over the world are going through an extremely dangerous period. In the United States especially, the number of cyclist accidents and deaths have reached a record high. The numbers and current scenario paint quite the worrisome picture.

A lot of it largely has boiled down to the absence of proper infrastructure for them to ride on the roads, but there is another major factor too.
The behaviour and discipline of drivers on the road to have caused major concerns for cyclists. There are numerous instances where drivers don’t pay attention to the roads either cause they’re on their phones or just forget about the existence of cyclists on the road. There are also instances when cars make their way on lanes solely for cycles, causing much trouble for cyclists.

Cyclist clashes with driver over bike lane trespassing

A cyclist captured and shared one such instance of a driver standing in the cycling lane on social media. Uploaded by the page ‘More Crazy Clips’, the video showed the moment a cyclist faced up against a driver as he blocked the cycling lane.

The video started with the man narrating how the driver was out of place. He went up ahead and didn’t go around. Instead, he tried to make his way within the small gap that was there between the two cars. Watching this unfold, the driver of the car opened the door and confronted the cyclist. He replied, “Why are you in the bike lane?”

He finally made his way out of the narrow gap as the driver yelled at him, asking him to wait. The cyclist went ahead and mocked the driver in his own comical style.

In a time when cyclists’ deaths are on the rise and there is grave uncertainty in the atmosphere, such instances only add to the madness. The driver indeed had it coming for plying his way on a lane solely meant for cycles.
