Thor Hushovd was a household name in Norway during his 15 years long cycling career. He was popular amongst both experts and fans for his tenacious attitude and relentless pursuit of excellence. A fierce competitor, Hushovd gave it his all during a race and held nothing back. Stories of him winning a prologue in 2006 Tour de France despite a cut arm is quite famous. He cycled with stitches but completed the race and became the first person to win the first and last stage of the Tour de France.

Hushovd is taking over Uno-X Mobility from another legend himself, Jens Haugland. He was associated with the club since 2016 and will be part of their board after the takeover. The CEO of the team spoke about the vision they have for it and how Thor’s appointment is a step in the right direction and a big leap forward for them.

In a statement released to the media, CEO Kulset said, “The signing of Hushovd represents another step in the development of the cycling team, and it strengthens our leadership in Reitan Retail and the Uno-X Mobility business. Thor Hushovd needs no further presentation, and he has an outstanding background and personality to help Uno-X Mobility take the next steps in professional cycling. Our WorldTour ambitions with both our women and men are no secret.”‘

Team now aiming for cycling accolades

Uno-X Pro has enjoyed a meteoric rise as a cycling team since they were awarded the continental status in 2017. In 2020, the team joined the Pro Team League, and that spelt the start of something promising for them. Just a few days back, the team received the news of their second consecutive wild card entry into the prestigious Tour de France.

Their performance last year at the biggest of stages caught everyone’s eyes, and they showed the world that they could compete. Their outfit boasted of some great cycling talents and if things go well, they could well be staring at a spectacular future. Haugland spoke about the golden opportunity and how it was great for the sport overall.

“The participation in the Tour de France also gives us an even larger arena to create enthusiasm and engagement for more cycling, which is the very heart of sustainable mobility,” he said.
