About six months ago, in a truly disturbing incident, a cyclist was catapulted off his bike by an enraged and unruly dirt bike rider in Panmure, New Zealand. The cyclist, who wished to remain anonymous was on a routine training ride along the Matapan Rd when the entire ordeal unfolded.
Having recalled recent news of a crackdown on dirt bike riders by the local police, the cyclist was immediately alarmed after coming across the rider. There was an appeal made by the authorities to send in photos if at all any person encountered them.

A viral video of the entire encounter took social media by storm after the cyclist shared his story. Thinking to himself that it was the right thing to do as a citizen, he geared up to take photos, videos and submit the evidence to the local authorities.
As shared by nzherald, “I thought I was just going to ride past the section where this guy just pulled in and just pretend to be taking a selfie and … what could possibly go wrong?” said the cyclist to the media.
As he religiously went ahead like a good samaritan and filmed the dirt biker, he quickly latched onto what exactly was unfolding. The biker then got onto his dirt bike and began his pursuit of the cyclist. This behaviour completely shocked the man and his survival instincts kicked in. He attempted to get away from the scene, having clicked his photograph. The biker, however, was in no mood to let it go.
He chased the man, hurling him with abuses and threats as he rode past him two or three times. The entire situation escalated into something quite frightening for the cyclist, but he still kept recording and capturing everything as it went down.
Will the dirt biker face the axe of the law?
As the cyclist took the turn for Kings Rd, he realized the impending doom that was upon him. In the pursuit of escape, he found himself on a street with no pedestrians and no cars. There was not a single soul in sight. “get off the bike and fight like a man” said the dirt biker as he chased him with full vigor.
It is perhaps here that the dirt biker mustered the courage to pull off the deadly ‘Roadrage’ type of takedown of the cyclist. He stretched his left foot out and violently kicked the man for recording him. The momentum he built up and forced he mustered in the kick sent the man flying off his cycle. He landed straight onto a parked car and smashed into the back windscreen.

The cyclist was completely flabbergasted and did not understand what hit him. He was unsure if he was knocked out or just blacked out in the moment. “Pretty much immediately two people showed up … one was a builder who said ‘oh, I saw you riding and I saw the motorbike rider pursuing you so I just turned my ute around and I chased both of you’,” the cyclist said.
He was thankful that there were some good people around him that helped him recover quickly from the incident. Unfortunately for him, though, police still haven’t nabbed the criminal. Six months later, he is out on the streets and so the cyclist expressed his disappointment with local authorities.
The entire ordeal took a lot from the cyclist. It left him with a broken kneecap, and finger and bruises all over. He was also diagnosed with a concussion later, which took him a total of six months to recover from. It took him about 17 weeks to regain full fitness and return to work full-time.
