Vincent Kompany is a leader who is held in the highest regard by the footballing world. And the former Manchester City Captain showed exactly why he is looked upto.

In a Jupiler Pro League fixture between Anderlecht and Club Brugge, an ugly incident took place when Simon Mignolet, Club Brugge’s goalkeeper was about to take a goal kick. He had a pyrotechnic thrown at him by the Anderlecht supporters which caught the Belgium international surprised and shocked.

The former Liverpool goalkeeper was seen struggling due to the flare caused, he even covered his face as it became an uneasy situation for him.

That’s when Vincent Kompany stepped in and was seen confronting his own fans and lecturing them about the ugly incident. He looked angry and livid, and while his words weren’t recorded you could easily his displease at the behaviour of his own fans. 

He then walked towards Simon Mignolet and consoled him about the incident. The Veteran then went towards the stands with Mignolet with him and asked his supporters to not disrespect a fellow countryman in Mignolet.

It wasn’t the most pleasant match for the footballing world and even so for Anderlecht as they lost the game 2-1 to their rivals. 

While Antoine Colassin opened the scoring for Vincent Kompany’s side, Hans Vanaken proved to be the real match-winner as he turned it around with his two goals.

The 33-year-old Belgium international has had a not so perfect start with Anderlecht as he had to give up his managerial duties after a disastrous start to the season.

The record times Belgium champions, Anderlecht currently sit 9th in what has been a disappointing season for them.
