Baseball legend and a recent Hall of Fame member, David Ortiz, made the news for his baseball skills 7 years after retirement. A viral doing rounds on social media showed ‘Big Papi’ as he was affectionately called by fans, taking a swing at the gender reveal party.

You would expect someone of his stature and caliber to never miss a shot, especially when it’s in such close proximity. But it is, as they say, there’s a first time for everything, and Ortiz chose the wrong day!

Uploaded on X by the page ‘Jomboy Media’, the video already has over 400k views. The video showed the legendary Red Sox waiting in anticipation for the ball to come his way. With the aesthetic decor in the backdrop, he was all ready to smash the ball and reveal to everyone the gender of their child.

People in the room counted down to three, and he took a wild swing, but to everyone’s surprise, he completely missed the shot. Nevertheless, blue confetti covered the entire room as everyone broke into a wild celebration.

The final frame of the video showed Ortiz jumping in happiness as he embraced his friend next to him. The joy of becoming a father once again made him completely forget about the miss.

Ortiz debuted in the MLB in 1992, but only his straps after joining the Red Sox in 1997. It is here that he established his name as a baseball great, winning three World Series titles and several other awards. ‘Big Papi’ retired in 2016, but his love for baseball saw him return as an analyst the next year.
