Andrew Flintoff was always unlike the typical English Cricketer. He was very un-gentleman like in his approach, be it while batting or bowling. And needless to say, had disciplinary issues of the field as well. But even the purists of English cricketers can’t deny how crucial his role was in the Ashes victory of 2005 on home soil. He not only completed the English batting, but also became a front line bowler for the England team. The ‘perfect allrounder‘ as they say.
In 1882, when Australia had defeated England for their first ever test victory on English soil, one of the greatest rivalry was born in cricket named ‘The Ashes’. From 1989 to 2005, Australia won every Ashes series played between the two sides and it became a one-sided contest.
