There was massive drama as the heavens opened and several drivers were caught out. The first high-profile casualty was Daniel Ricciardo with a mechanical issue. But he had retired way earlier. So the talk of the town was Sebastian Vettel who crashed out of the lead. As a result, Lewis Hamilton inherited the lead of the race and championship. Here is how Twitter reacted.

Vettel had fresher tyres and Kimi had to pit anyway. He was on two-stop strategy
Bottas had fresher tyres, clearly faster and was told to stay behind HamiltonNotice the difference https://t.co/uo3LSVuK37

One thing from today, Mercedes can not say anything about Ferrari using Raikkonen to help Vettel, got to love the hypocrisy
— Thomas Knights (@tomknights1) July 22, 2018
Y'all would crucify Hamilton as smug and arrogant if he said what Vettel said at silverstone. Suck it, Ferrari! 🖕#GermanGP

merc with a perfect strategy too tbh, read the weather flawlessly and called for a pit stop at exactly the right time to discount it. like he lost 1 place and 0 seconds to vettel after about 10 laps on the ultras or something silly
