Super Bowl fever has gripped America as the best teams of the season are going head-to-head against each other. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles are back on the field after going into halftime. As is the custom, a very popular artist performs during Super Bowl halftime. This time, it was the billionaire singer and makeup mogul, Rihanna, who enthralled fans at Apple Music’s Super Bowl 2023 Halftime Show. Even though RiRi returned to the stage after a long hiatus, her performance failed to impress fans who thought that she did what is dreaded by many listeners.
When Rihanna appeared on the stage, fans saw that the 34-year-old was pregnant again. She started her performance with the track ‘B*tch Better Have My Money’ and then followed it along with many of her other hits.
Previously, fans were trying to guess which songs the R&B singer would kick off her show with. Although many fans grooved to the rhythm of her top charting songs, some did not like that the singer chose to lip-sync most of her performance.

Fans express their disappointment and displeasure at Rihanna and her mediocre performance
Why do artists choose to lip-sync? Halftime shows have become as grand as any movie premiere. They involve complex choreography, majestic sets, and many cameos. Therefore, to keep up with all that is happening around them, artists often choose or prefer to rely on backup vocal tracks. It is rather easy to spot if a singer is lip-syncing or not. And that is what the NFL fans did when they watched Rihanna’s performance.
One fan believed that the lip-syncing was very obvious:
Rihanna half time very very meh obvious lip sync and she's not even really dancing. Very low effort

This fan waited for the singer to actually start singing:
Is @rihanna gonna sing… or just lip sync the whole time.

Another fan is sad that they watched Rihanna lip-sync instead of singing in real-time.
So wtf, I guess there is no such thing as live singing anymore…. Watchin Rihanna lip sync right now… sad…. #SuperBowlLVII #Rhianna

Shoutout to Rihanna for not even bothering to pretend it’s not a lip sync. Breaking kayfabe like a champ. #SuperBowl

This fan thinks this year’s halftime show was one of the worst.
Might be the worst #SuperBowl halftime show I’ve ever watched. No energy. Boring. She’s not even trying to lip sync properly. Horrible. #Rihanna

What is point of a halftime show where #Rihanna just mimes her songs. Even the miming is off and she can't lip sync right

Rihanna is one of the biggest stars in the music industry and has sold over 250 million records in her entire musical career. Therefore, she is royalty when it comes to singing. Because of that fans were questioning if she was singing live or not.
